These easy watermelon banana popsicles (2 ingredients) are a delicious homemade snack. They are sweet and creamy, with no added sugar. Make these with young children and stay cool this summer!
Today, I share a fun and easy watermelon banana popsicle recipe with you to try with your kids at home. We had lots of fun making them from finding perfect wood sticks in our backyard as popsicle sticks and washing and drying them to cutting and blending watermelons and bananas. You also can make watermelon salad with leftover watermelon cubes.
Then, we hunted for a perfect shape mold in the kitchen and ended up using our 10-inch cast-iron skillet- gotta love my cast-iron skillet even more now that I am making popsicles in them!! It was flat, got the job done, and quickly froze the watermelon banana popsicles.
If you have a popsicle mold, go ahead and use it. Otherwise, follow my steps below for a fun way to make popsicles.
This recipe brought up so many of my childhood memories!
This 2 ingredients watermelon popsicle recipe is dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan. There is no added sugar in the recipe, all-natural watermelon, and banana sweetness.
Ingredients
Watermelon. Pick one that is sweet and seedless. Pick the round one; The one with the yellow patch (not white) on one side; The one that feels heavy to its size. Ultimately, the one that has about two finger spaces between light and dark green strips.
Banana. Add sweetness and creamy texture to the popsicles. Make sure to use ripe bananas.
How to make watermelon banana popsicles
If you have a popsicle mold, go ahead and use it. Otherwise, follow my steps below for a fun way to make popsicles.
Prepare a mold for popsicles. I used a 10-inch cast-iron skillet covered with plastic wrap. It was a perfect shape to freeze the popsicles fast.
In a food processor, blend the watermelon and bananas.
At this point, taste it and adjust for sweetness. Add more banana or honey if you wish!
Next, pour the mixture into the mold.
Cover it with aluminum foil. Make sure the foil does not touch the popsicles.
Then, take a knife and make small holes in the foil. The number of spots depends on the size and number of popsicles you want.
Next, take the sticks and place them inside the holes. I used tree branches as sticks.
Transfer the mold gently into the freezer and let it freeze for a minimum of 8 hours- depending on the shape of the mold you use.
Halfway through the freezing process, you cut the popsicles. This will make it easier to cut popsicles out when completely frozen.
When the popsicles are well frozen and ready to serve, run the cold water underneath the mold to take them out quickly.
Cut them into sizes you like, and ENJOY!
