Ingredients for sauteed cabbage
- Red cabbage. I used half of a medium-sized red/purple cabbage. You can use other types of cabbage, such as green or white cabbage. I chopped the cabbage about ½". You may choose the shred the cabbage. Here is a great post on how to cut the cabbage before cooking.
- Diced garlic. For tasty garlic flavor.
- Teriyaki sauce. It adds a savory and sweet taste to the dish. Make sure it is vegan.
- Sesame seeds. Adds delicious nutty flavor and texture to the dish. Inspired by Asian, and Chinese recipes. Sesame oil works too.
- Oil. I use avocado oil as it has a high smoke point and is fabulous for sauteing at high heat. It does not have a smell or taste to alter the dish's flavor. Butter and olive oil are other options.
- Seasonings. Salt and pepper to taste. Make it super spicy using red pepper flakes.
- Parsley flakes. for garnish.
How to make teriyaki red cabbage
Step 1. Prepare the oven and veggies. Preheat the oven to 400 °F. To prepare the cabbage, you need to cut and remove the hard part. Then, chop the red cabbage about ½ " long. Dice the garlic.
Step 2. Saute veggies. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add oil to it. Saute diced garlic for a few seconds. Then, add red cabbage and saute until you see the initial sign of browning.
Step 3. Season it. Add salt and pepper to taste and stir around. Then add teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds. Continue sauteing for a few minutes.
